**** SPECIAL RELEASE - LIMITED INVENTORY ****
Introduction
Lafontaine du Loup Rosé is a beautiful traditional method bubbly, crafted from the ideal terroir and geography of Prince Edward County.
Created by brilliant sparkling winemaker Jonas Newman in collaboration with the Grange’s proprietors, it proudly carries their signatures.
This wine is an expression of our love of Prince Edward County and for Lafontaine, the spirited Francophone town in North Ontario which inspired the famous legend of the wolf.
Description
Expressive mid-weight traditional method sparkling rosé of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with the most beautiful apricot hue. The approachable dry palate has a texturally appealing fine elegant mousse. Exotic notes of dried orange peel, marmalade, crème fraiche and apricot play nicely with toasted almond brioche speaking to its 48 months on lees. Lafontaine has a saline minerality typical of the region, a lively acidity and persistent lengthy finish.
The Legend of the Wolf of Lafontaine
The people of Lafontaine hold on to a legend - that of a lone wolf which for years, terrorized them and their livestock.
Lurking through the darkness of separation between old Lafontaine’s cultures - French settlers, English Loyalists, Voyageurs, and Aboriginal Peoples - the beast was free to exploit their isolation.
Bonding together as one community, they banished the wolf to never return.
To this day, the wolf symbolizes the common respect and connection between the cultures of Lafontaine, a place which remains one of the last Francophone communities in Ontario.
We like to think the Wolf of Lafontaine incited solidarity; a cause for celebration and popping of corks that spirited great friendships - they were united by bubbles.
